The Muddle Headed Girl represents anyone who is dissatisfied with the status quo. She represents female empowerment, women's issues, women's rights and equality.
The Muddle Headed Girl is never confused. She feels cornered, trapped and frustrated due to the unrealistic expectations placed upon her by modern society. Buy a house but there are none to buy. Have babies but do it without health care. Get a job but be happy with 30% less pay. Vote but we'll just change the laws anyway. Have empathy but only for the right people. Be outspoken but know your place. Be yourself but submit to the powers that be. Be the boss but don't be bossy or you are a bitch.

What The Muddle Headed Girl Stands for
The Muddle Headed Girl is a mother, a child, an aunt or a sister. She is a grandmother or a grandchild. She is a teacher, a lover, a fighter and a veteran. She is gay and she is Bi. She is soft and she is hard, she wants equality and respect, unity and control over her own life and her loved ones. She is Gen Z and a Boomer, a Gen Xer and Gen A. She stands for decency and empathy, expression and freedom, and above all, she is tired of the unrealistic expectations society places upon her, the modern woman.
Be pretty but not too pretty or my friends might hit on you. Be approachable but not too approachable or you are easy. Make money but not too much money or you threaten us. Be strong but not too strong or you might upset someone. Be smart but not too smart or I will feel inadequate. Be a queen but know who is really in charge. Be yourself but know your place.

Muddle Headed Girls stand together, support each other, defend each other, fight for each other and live, laugh, love and cry together. Muddle Headed Girls fight for rights, equality and justice. They stand strong in the face of resistance. They don't want to take power from anyone else, they simply want their own.
She supports all minorities. She supports the LBGT community. She supports the oppressed and persecuted whoever and wherever they are.
People threatened by the Muddle Headed Girl are of no consequence to her. She stands strong herself and helps others do the same. She's the boss and a boss bitch. She makes her own way and brings others with her. She chases success and settles for no less. She carries power within and is not defined by the world or anyone in it. history of the muddle headed girl
Muddle Headed Girl started out as a doodle on my high school folders way back in 1975 and I have been playing with her ever since. In 2025 when I started Rosewood Art Studio as a way to spend my retirement, she started to show up in the drawings. Since the art was intended to blend nature, The Creator, hard life lessons and female empowerment, the Girl quickly evolved into an accurate, pure way to represent all of those sentiments in one simple drawing.
I take care to draw her with a variety of body shapes, head shapes, in hundreds of different colors and with many different empowering hearts such as open hearts, red hearts, infinity hearts, compass and butterfly hearts, even puppy paw and music note hearts. She is designed to be easily customizable to accurately represent anyone and their way of being in this world. She is simple, colorful, meaningful, individualistic and empowering.

Every piece of Rosewood art has on its reverse side a hand crafted Rosewood Art Studio logo, a catalog number and signature and date. The catalog number serves to assure buyers of the art that every limited series, such as the Muddle Headed Girl series, is limited to 35 original pieces per year. It also designates that all specialty series are cataloged together, such as the Rainbow series or art that comes in pairs.
Rosewood Art Studio is committed to maintaining the integrity and rarity of our all original collectable limited series editions. Each order comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity and a feather from Rosewood. Buyers of the art can be assured that our limited series remain original, rare and limited!

We are proud to offer Limited Edition collectable prints! The first offering is 6 Muddle Headed Girls in the colors of the rainbow. These are professional reproductions on a very high quality, acid free, heavy artist quality paper, very similar to the art paper all Rosewood art is created on. Each color is limited to 20 prints annually and each print is signed, dated and numbered to assure our customers that they are indeed collecting limited editions.

Separate from the 35 Limited Edition series where the Muddle Headed Girl stands alone, proud and strong, is the Specialty Series where you will find the Girl with different backgrounds such as a spiral, sunburst or starburst, standing with friends, art that comes in pairs or sets, and the very rare Muddle Headed Girl whose head faces to the left.
The Specialty Series will never number more than 35 a year as well so they will always remain rare, collectable and desirable. This series also expands the variety available to custom orders and opens up whole new worlds to those who wish to make the Muddle Headed Girl their own!
